Donna Moore
Donna specializes in Aboriginal and Treaty rights, First Nations' land claims, administrative & environmental law and litigation. Donna has experience at all levels of Court including the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. She has also participated in landmark First Nations litigation and in matters before the Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board, the National Energy Board, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner and the Alberta Human Rights Commission.
Donna is a member of the Law Societies of Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. She attended the University of Saskatchewan earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1987, a Master of Arts in 1993 and a Bachelor of Laws in 1996. While in the College of Law, Donna conducted research for several Saskatoon law firms and lectured in the Department of Sociology at the University of Saskatchewan. She was admitted to the Law Society of Saskatchewan in 1997 and carried on a litigation practice with Zatlyn Law Office in Prince Albert. Donna also practiced family and criminal law with the Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission. She was admitted to the Law Society of Alberta in 2004 and joined Rath & Company, specializing in Aboriginal, constitutional and environmental law and litigation. In April 2009, she was admitted to the Law Society of British Columbia and she has appeared before the British Columbia Supreme Court and Court of Appeal. Donna has been the recipient of numerous awards for academic, professional and other achievements. She is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Calgary Bar Association, the Centre for International Legal Studies and the International Bar Association. Donna is also a Learning Group Facilitator for the Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education (CPLED).
Donna is active in community events and maintains a keen interest in the environment, politics and the arts. She has also presented at various conferences and panels including the Centre for International Legal Studies; the Public Legal Education Association of Saskatchewan (where she was also a Board Member); the Maurice Law Aboriginal and Treaty Advocacy Conference 2007 & the Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education. Donna is also a Board member of the Southern Alberta Greyhound Association, a Committee member of the Environment and Sustainability Committee in her home community and volunteers in other capacities. She enjoys running, snowshoeing, kayaking and spending time with her children.
